How Enterprise Architecture is connected to Zayo

Enterprise Architecture (EA) exists to support Zayo’s strategic vision. It does this by aligning people, process, and technology decisions with actionable goals and objectives to drive quantifiable improvements.

Within the Enterprise Architecture (EA) framework, Enterprise Architects, System Architects, and Platform Architects (all with different focuses) work together to ensure Zayo meets its goals.

1.

Enterprise Architect focuses on the entire enterprise (i.e., flow of value, processes, and information) and activities are designed to fulfill enterprise vision.

  • Enterprise-wide perspective

  • High strategy focus

  • Broad technology focus

Note: Enterprise Architect and Solution Architect constrain each other — Enterprise Architect establishes strategic framework and guidelines while Solution Architect interprets and applies these directives.

2.

System Architect focuses on a single system or process to meet specific needs or solve a problem.

  • Business activity perspective

  • Medium strategy focus

  • Moderate technology focus

Note: System Architect and Technical Architect guide each other — create link between strategic concept and technical execution

3.

Platform Architect focuses on solution delivery, using their knowledge of technology to ensure the infrastructure functions correctly.

  • System/application perspective

  • Low strategy focus

  • Specific technology focus
